The FR1300 Slave Reader is a device that allows you to read any book in the world with just your eyes. It’s a pair of glasses with a small camera mounted on the bridge.
The camera records the words as you read them. When you’re done, you can download them to your computer. From there they look like normal text, but you can read them in any language.
The idea came to me as I was thinking about how to get into the business of translating books from one language to another. Even if you’re not interested in translating, the FR1300 Slave Reader can be a great tool to help you read books you’d like to read, but aren’t in your language.
The FR1300 Slave Reader is a Kickstarter project. They’re still working on the project, but they’ve reached their funding goal and the project is going forward. If you want to support the project, you can pledge to get one as soon as they’re available.
The text is available in several formats, but the one I’m most interested in is the FR1300 text. It’s the plainest, most normal-looking text you can get.
It’s really just text. It has no formatting, no pictures, no links, no hyperlinks. It’s just ordinary text, like you’d find in a book.
The FR1300 text is available in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
