Ricoh Aficio – We have identified an issue with certain Ricoh Aficio MPC4503 printers. A small number of the MPC4503 printers have been manufactured with a chip in the top right-hand corner, embedded in the silicon. This chip appears to be the same as the chip in the MFC4503. The MFC4503 is currently our best-selling model and is designed to be a desktop replacement for everyone from small businesses to large enterprise organizations. It the MFC4503 has been identified that a small number of the MFC4503 printers have been manufactured with a second chip, embedded in the silicon. The second chip appears to be similar to the chip in the MFC4503 but with a narrower pincer and a wider groove. The second chip appears to be a replacement chip for the top chip. The second chip was not signed off by any of the quality control processes during manufacture. The printers that are affected have been found to be running the second chip. All of these printing machines were assembled in the United States and shipped to other countries. However, the old chip had been signed off by the manufacturer before being shipped to the countries MFC450urrently in high demand.
